    I miss my E30

Yup. I was looking through some pictures of it today and damn did that bring back alot of memories.

    The day I bought it:

I was sooo excited! My first car and it was an E30, where could you go wrong?! Thanks to a friend of mine who kept pushin' me to buy one, I did it and wasn't disapointed. It was the sportiest thing I had ever drivin' (I used to drive a Ford Areostar or the Red Jimmy pictured above) and I learnt to drive stick in it (thanks again to that same buddy).

Since I didn't have my License yet, I kept it at the shop and worked on it:

I learnt how to do mechanical work on this car and did (mostly) everything myself to get it ready for the mechanical inspection. I took some time to have most of the trim re-painted while it was here.

Finally I got most of the mechanical stuff done, so I brought it home to practice driving stick:

I still didn't have my license or mechanical inspection, but I still remember the feeling of bombimg down my back alley, or sliding it abit on some ice. I still remember how damn proud I was to have a BMW in the driveway to call my own. My parents kept braggin to everyone I had a nicer, sportier car then them. I was showing it off to my friends every chance I had.

Finally (3 months later) I had my license, a fresh set of tires, and insurance. Time to hit the road!

    First photoshoot's:

I was sooooo excited to show off my car at school to all my friends. Since I was the only one with a license in my group of friends, there would actually be fights over who got to go out for lunch or get a ride home. It grabbed everyones attention and they wanted to know more about it.

These are the last pics I have of it before my crash. I rolled it over 230K, washed it a few days later & then the day after I washed it:

I introduced it to a curb showing off. For the full story; http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=86974. I had to go back to asking buddies for a ride to school or take the bus. I fixed it with the help of my dad in our driveway about 3 weeks later. Cost me a whopping $400, and a sunday afternoon. My dad then straightened the body out and fixed my fender.

I was back driving to school with a month to spare in school. Even though it was 4 different colors, people still loved it's looks and styling. Who couldn't?

Then just before school ended, I got to ride in my buddie's 325iS (The same guy who convinced me to get an E30). I realized just how slow my little ETA was. I also realized that everything I wanted to do to this car wasn't gonna happen. I wanted a 2.5L, plastic bumper E30, so I put mine up for sale in early July.

I was specificly looking for an E30 and I found these 2:

The first was a 1990 325iS with a bunch of mods, exactly what I wanted. It was a bit overpriced and i didn't have the money, so I didn't get it. The Second was a 1989 325i. It was in my price range, but it had high miles and a lot of rust and problems. I also looked into a 1988 325iX, but it had over half a Million (no joke, odometer read 522,000) kilometers on it.

Then the same friend who got me into E30's got me into this:

    A 1995 325i with a sport package and a 5 speed.

The last few pics I have before I started driving the E36:

And my last Sunset with her:

Now that I look back on it, I had a helluva lot of fun with the E30 and I have a bunch of great memories with that car. Even though it was slow and old, I really miss my E30 and these pictures make me want to buy another one again. Don't get me wrong I love my E36, its just there's something about the E30 that just makes me love it even more...
