So I talked one of my friends in buying an e30 when he got back from basic training (army) about 2 months ago. I helped him look for one for a few weeks when we finally found one that he felt comfortable with.

1987 325is - bone stock.. interior recently reupholstered.


Anyways, he has only had the car for about 3-4 weeks and he starts to feel that e30 love that we all know.. then the unthinkable happens.

Some kids thought it would be funny to drive around in their new truck that mommy and daddy most likely paid for and grab a trash can, speed down the road and let it slam into the back on my friends car..

Damn that sucks but why is it going to be off the streets? Thats 100 percent fixable if your buddy wants to keep it. Looks like the damage was just above the rear frame rails so it shouldn't be too bad to fix.

Well we got a couple quotes to get it fixed and it wouldnt be worth fixing.. he might as well find another one (we already lined him up with a late model if he wants to go that route). And none of us really know body work.. so idk.

Unless we could find someone who would want the whole car and would plan on fixing it themselves.

I guess it would be considered a dumpster.. like the kind that have the two wheels... The kind in the backround of the first of the "damage" pictures... it was the blue one.

Yeah, they hold onto it and fly down the road going about 60 give or take and hang the can over the side of the truck..

Yeah we know it was a trash can because it was sitting right behind the car with trash all over the place (trash flew everywhere on impact).

Plus kids do this shit all the time in my area, although I have never been directly affected.

Holy crap, that's a lot of damage from a dumpster. Is he going to part it, try to sell it complete, or just let it go? In any case, that really sucks. :(

Yeah thats what we decided too. Since the only thing we knew was the girl that lives at the house that he was at went outside to walk her friend to her car and they saw ppl looking at it from a white truck but sped off, no make model or license plate #....
