    BMW sav/wagon choices

Hey guys, I'm looking to spend roughly 8-12k on a car (can got a bit more with a loan). I'd like the car to be reasonable on gas, handle well, well built, decent towning capactity (able to pull a car+trailer) and a nice trunk. Manual gearbox is a plus. I'd like to stay with BMW, but am perhaps open to other suggestions.

    I'm thinking of getting either a e46 325i touring, e39 528i sportwagon or maybe a cheaper x5?

I'd like to bring a diesel monster back over, but I can't :-(

    Thanks for the input,
    Julien

I'm actually not really sure the towing capability of an E46 325 or E39 528(wagon), even with a manual..I bet they could get the job done, but I wonder how they would do going up hill? Perhaps not too shabby?

First thing that came to my mind when you said Wagon/Manual/BMW was an E34 535/530 Wagon in Manual. Maybe they don't look as good or as well built as the E46 or E39, but they might give you exactly what you are looking for. Perhaps a try?

I think E39 tourings are sexy. 540 touring would be preferable in a 6 speed.

My 324td/e30 touring towed an e30 800 miles sans problems.. So if my e30 can do it, i'm sure an e46 can get the job done.. e39 touring are sexy.

          That would be great, thanks!

Yeah np, let me just get your SS# and Credit Card. When I get to Nigeria my cousin from Thailand will make the transaction through western credit union and give you back 50% of your money so you don't have to worry about trusting me. I will then mail it back to you via PayPalFedEx and my aunt from Pakistan will ship it over to you freight from Russia.

E46 325i touring can be really amazing with the right options.

Grab me a set of euro grills and some euro trim and I'll buy you a beer if you pass through Winston. :)

The transmission will hate you later on for towing. ;)

                          525? 535?

Are you talking on an open trailer?

What did you use for a hitch?
