Good compression is usually a good sign with the S38 engine, but what will tell the real story is a leakdown test.

Was it for sale on the Toronto Craigslist? If it is the same one, then this car was previously in CT as well and I have looked at it. It was also on eBay for the longest damn time too.

Anyways, about the car. The paint was really nice. Front Seats were definitely reupholstered recently, and whoever did it, did a nice job. Everything was very clean, including the engine bay. However, the owner was a master in douchebaggery, causing a lack of interest in the car on my part.

Car was maybe 7-9K, 10k tops.

likely. most of the black interior M5s were from Canada

I've personally seen two in the PNW with black interior, and I strongly suspect they were Canada cars. Unfortunately the owners of both were pretty clueless as to what they had. I still miss my E28 M5.
