Does this count as R3V'ing my car???

This is what happens when a big ass DEER runs into the driver's door of your 318ti at 745 in the morning.

I was driving to work down a 2 lane road when BAM!!!!!!!....... I did not see it coming, I initially thought someone had tossed a bowling ball through my driver door window. Glass and deer hair are everywhere....

I pulled over and stopped, and through my rear view mirror saw a large buck getting back on his feet in the middle of the road. He staggered around a bit and then ran off into the woods.

The door is farked- I'm on the hunt for a replacement, the QTR panel needs to be banged out and bondo'ed (this is a beater, not a showpiece- not the bondo in the door from the PO's repairs)... Other than that- it's not bad ;)

So, if anyone in the Raleigh NC area knows where to find a good cheap 318ti driver's door- PLEASE let me know...

Wow you are lucky in kind of a f*cked up way, if that deer had jumped just a few inches up it would have gone straight through the window

I can see the horrible paint work and even sanding scratches under the paint.. along with the bondo.

              That sucks ....

I had a friend get the same thing with his Chevy Jimmy. One hit him in the right front fender and while that happened he got another one in the left rear quarter panel. He said he thought he was being attacked by RPG's as he didn't see it coming as well and scared the bejesus out of him....

You got that right. The PO had some really shoddy paint + body work done to it, but I knew that when I bought it. It's definitely a beeeeeeter, but it runs great and I really like the hatchback, plus- I don't have too much $$ tied up in it and hopefully can get it back together pretty cheaply.

I'm still planning to keep it, I like the ~30-35 mpg. And yes, the doors are ti specific :(

I say it counts seeing as how its half e30 ...kind of .

Also I believe the doors are regular E36 sedan doors .

thanks to you for the door on my car now, but i have no ti for joo :(

ive seen a few times where the deer ran into the car. One time my girlfriend stopped to let the stragglers cross when this big buck ran straight into the car and flipped onto the hood. Then it was kicking about trying to regain its footing ON her hood, all while scratching the hood and busting a side mirror off... WTF!

PS, Bret, it would be nice if you replied to my PMs. a simple no could suffice.

Thats shitty. I t hought the doors are from an E36 coupe. Firewall foward is E36 sedan, behind is E36 coupe, with rear suspension basically E30. Maybe doors are one of the few parts alone that are TI specific, besides the rear body parts.

Sucks to see a TI wrecked, theyre bad ass. I wish I never sold my 96 sport Alaska Blue. GL with whatever ya choose to do with it.

hmmm, that would be nice since I have one. But, Realoem.com lists different part numbers for the ti and the sedan....

Guess some measuring and test fitting is in order....

Sorry man, it's been crazy around here for the last couple of months- building a new house (I'm acting as General Contractor), started a new job recently AND opened a new branch for the company.... not excuses, but just so you know I wasn't totally ignoring you.... I remember seeing your PM's but totally flaked on sending a reply

You're right about the front end being Sedan parts ...but I do believe the doors are also sedan parts .

Definitely NOT coupe doors as they are short as hell and also framed .

Well Mr Teabagger ;) , I haven't given up on it completely- as soon as I have time I'm going to do some checking and measuring on the Sedan door vs the ti door opening.

BUT....as I mentioned, the ti door and the sedan door have different part numbers AND the door glass has different part numbers too- so I think it's not gonna work.

I've found a couple of ti doors, but they're like 4-6 hours drive away, one way. Still looking for something closer to home.
