FK High Tec Suspension Kit 60/40??

im doing my suspension and i think i've narrowed it down to the FK high tec suspension kit. it comes with shocks and springs, with a 60mm drop up front and a 40mm drop in the rear for $595. same suspension that andy (killercalypso) has on his car.
now i just gotta order it, unless anyone has negatives about this suspension i need to know about??? opinions? thanks,
    Dan

The only negative is that they are soft. And they should be good for our harsh roads.

a little soft is probably good because of how bad mass roads are, as long as they're not too soft. so will you help me with the install once i order them greg? that would be friggen sweet cuz i dont know what im doing. thanks,
      Dan

Fk shocks are stiffer than bilsteins.

I've heard ppl say the springs sag, but i dont think that is tru, no one had any hard evidence except they say someone told someone bah bah

Andy told me that his spring rates were 450f/600r....definitely not soft at all.

The springs in my car were manufactered by FK for Koni and I'll say they are soft for one. That is why when I find the spring I want they are history. They are truely a $125 set of springs.

            I'm leaning to H&R as i don't like the Eibach's I have, or maybe Ireland's Stage III.

FK 60/40 kit = soft. Good if you want a stock ride quality...

It slams the late-model car way too low in my opinion. Tucks all 4.

FK is not a quality suspension! It will be ok for cruising, but the stock will perform better.
I had FK in my wife old golf, and the shocks are pure crap. they are the thinest dinkyest junk I have ever seen. The shocks also blew a few weeks after I got them too. nothing but problems. And I am positive on the road(not on paper) that the bilstiens are 100% better and a whole lot stiffer if you go with the fat M tech style.

why are you bringing ur golf into this, jus bcus it was made my fk doesn't mean its gonna perform the same.

I have fks on my car, and im happy with them. I dont track my car, its my daily driver/ only car....they may be too soft if u wanna track ur car, but u should be getting a race setup if thats the case......then compain about how stiff it is and how hard the bumps are.

EDIT: one more thing, My Fk kit has lifetime warrenty. So if the shocks blow, they are gonna replace them.

mine is an everyday driver as well. how do you like your kit? i dont want it too stiff because there is nothing but bad roads around here and i will never track my car. did it improve cornering and handling? tell me more about your opinions. thanks,
                    Dan

Definately improves handling, esp at high speeds. My fav is on slight curves on highways doing 140km. Recommended speed is usually 80.

The ride is not so bad I like it alot. I expected it to be way stiffer since the rep told me it was stiffer than H&R bilstiens combo. which i was gonna get.

The roads in toronto are pretty bad.....but i try to aviod it, the car does get noiser.......but my music is always pretty loud anyways.

I like my ride compared to other lower cars i've been in. I have yet to ride in another lowerd e30 thou. I will get a ride from Jay (Mystikal) he has GCs and koni's.........at first he was complaining about his being stiff

Check out the member rides sooon, ill be posting pics.

                        Jay = waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles :P

We got waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles spring rates yo. The only reason I complained what because my rear sat TOO low and i was riding on bump stops. The ride is very nice when the shocks actually do something.

Dan, you'd be better off buying Adam's used H&R sports + bilstein sports.

GC + Koni + Toronto = serious evasive moves.

My ride is stiff as fack, no matter what you people say. On glass roads anything will feel comfortable, try coming to our winter-ravaged pothole-smothered excuse for a roadway system and call me a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles again.

If I had to do it again I'd probably still go with this setup, because I'm flat astounded by the handling capability, which will only be further experienced with my first auto-x coming up in 2 weeks. But I'd be lying if I said it felt anything like any OE suspension over the rough stuff.

                            stiff? stiff? 300/475......

If (When) I get a second ride, it'll get 450/600 springs.

FK shocks suck. Springs are good, but could be stiffer, better....

Andy (KillerCalypso) has Koni shocks. Their springs are okay. I am going to go this route, but rather with Bilstein Sports because I'm not rich and can afford Koni shocks. And Fk springs are really a last resort for me, looking for Koni 60/40 springs (made in Germany only for E30's).

That is the bottom line. And try ebay.de you can find the whole kit that you found for $595 for E30's for around $300 (includes exchange rate). I think it was less even...
