    new in the forum

hallo, im btoks from barcelona, i find out about thi forum trying to find some info about upgrading my m42 engine, so i follow rob-e30´s history and i decide to become a member.

im working in comercial car mechanics. now im building in one of my 325i for drifting, while i finish my m42

last season i use my 318is but now i want to take more power out of it, but i need to decide what to do??, turbo, compressor, or natural aspirated. i will ask what would you guys do if you were going to use it for profetional drifting??, ill be compiting with cars with arround 300hp and more, but i know the e30 chasis with the m42 can get the weight of 850kg, so i wont need to have as much power like cars that weight 1100kg.

here are some vids of my 318is, with cone filter and heat shield, race headders, 3,5 bar of gas pressure, ecu modified and a welded diff 4,45 in the last vids.

and here is my youtube account:

      Welcome to the forum.

I can't really say what you should do to make more power with the M42, that is if you want to keep that engine anyway, but I assume you do since you have other E30's with different engines too already. I'm sure some people will post tomorrow, but anyway I just wanted to say I watched the videos and liked the first one best. Very nice drifts and control in that one.

if you want to get some power out of your m42, check out this thread. m42 club is a great place for the 318.

Turbo it, unless that's your drift car in the future (still could but i wouldn't)
666fabrication.com will give you some manifold porn for the m42 as well.

There is a lot of turbo info over on www.e30tech.com and m42 stuff at www.m42club.com/net i forget. Not trying to steal his attention away but those two places offer great concentrated info for turbo e30s and m42s respectively.

          Good luck.

Man, I saw a video of that track months ago, and I fell in love with it!!!!

Massive props at 3:55. Great transition and braking. Actually great transitions period. Drifting these semi-trailing arm rear ends are a handful when it comes to transitions, and I commend you on your abilities.

              I'm subscribing to your videos.

Love the drum and bass too!

                thanks everybody for the welcome.

hey erick, i saw what you do with your 325i and its awsome, i really like your style of drifting, there is not many e30 drifting in the usa, here in europe there are a lot of e30 for drifting and rallying.

im buiding these days a 325i, for 2008, i hope i can finish it for next month so i can show it to you guys. one thing erick: what have you done to your engine?? how much power did you get out of the m20?? any tips now that im working on mine?, you car runs very nice, but without the driver is nothing, jejeje:p

i have in the coupe 325: race headers, ecu upgrade, straight line exhaust with the flowmaster outlaw3", sports suspension 60/50, adjustable camber, offset bushings, sports gearbox (not the dog leg) with short shifter, 4.10 welded diff, fiber glass hoods, lightened, i dont remember what else.

My motor is stock inside. I am using a T3/T04E turbo with a 7psi setup. 32lb injectors, and Megasquirt to tune the car. I think that 250whp is more than enough in drifting, granted you have the proper suspension. And I will suggest just making sure you try to keep mid-range torque, because it is really helpful in drifting.

Also, I choose 7psi because of reliability. I did over 12 events last year doing nothing but oil changes to my motor every 2-3 events. And it keeps ticking with no problems.

I started with a stock open diff 325i... now 3 years later this is what I have :)

interesting ;) what do you think about turbo kits from ebay?? i see they offer all the parts need it to build a m20 turbo.

i think they are a bit expensive :(
