HELP ME DECIDE: Black or Tan top on my cabby???

Hi all e30 wizards need some advice. Have an 88 325i cabby, zinnoberrot, plastic bumper swap, is lip, eurostyle mtech II replica rear valance. Tan interior with sport seats (the good ones). I am replacing the top with an original German cloth top with green tint rear window. I can choose between the original black or go with a tan to match the interior.

    What do you think?

I have made up my mind about 6 times.

Green tint window? Either way, definitely go with tan. If you had black interior, then you'd want a black top.

Oh, and post up some pictures.

yeah- match the interior. I have a zinno/blk interior with a black top, but it'd look weird if you had a different color top and interior.

btw- where dd you source your new top? I'm thinking about replacing it (and I definitely need a new window)

www.topsonline.com - it is the cheapest I have found for $419 including sewn in rear window.

Green tint window is stock. Will post after paint! Right now it is Zinno, alpineweiss door, delphin bumpers, primered fender, primered is lip, and my rear valance isn't even here yet.

Usually the front seal and retainer are destroyed while removing them. I would suggest replacing them when you install the new top. Definately go with the tan!!!

I would definately go with a BLACK top. Your, dash, center console steering wheel and maybe floor mats are black. A tan top will get dirty fast and look old fast IMHO. Most of the red & tan e30 cabs I see have a black top.

Just before I hit reply I read this post. I agree +100. Tan tops will look like crap much earlier. Besides, you can't see the top when it is down, so why does it need to match anything?

I'm not a HUGE fan of my tan top. If I had a choice, I'd go black.

Tan top= Hairdresser(no offense to present tan top owners)
                              Black top=Masculine

I agree with the other guys that tan will get a dingy look.

I had a blue top on my cirrus blau and it looked okay. When I switched to black, it really changed the look for the better. I have a tan interior.
