Is SPYWARE the best defense vs. your company?

Folks, I just wanted to know if SPYWARE is the best software in blocking your company from checking your computer ?

    Any suggestions?

    TIA.

    Um, what?

Do you even know what "spyware" is?

What I meant is, is there a software that detects whether your company is peeking into your computer?

If so, what are they and I believe it will block it.

          Que?

Are we talking about a work computer? Any company with an IT team worth half a shit can check history, cache files, temp directories and the like. Haveing local access to a machine makes that easy. Most companies also run their systems through a proxy as well as a firewall, and can monitor incoming and outgoing traffic.

Since you're at work, wouldn't it be "their" computer?

I think you might be confused about what spyware is. Spyware is any piece of software that reports data on your machine back to the company that created the spyware. It is usually installed without the users knowledge, or packaged together with other free software found online. It usually sends reports on what websites you visit, your hardware configuration, etc... Spyware = bad

If your company wants to peek at what you are doing with your company machine and you have a halfway competent IT staff the only way you could stop them is by unplugging from the network. Of course in that case there's really not a whole lot you could do anyway... If you're wondering about erasing your tracks of which websites you visit, again if you have a competent IT staff there's nothing you can do.
