Question for those with lightweight flywheel

I just got mine in today.I am replacing the entire clutch, doing the Z4 3.0 shifter, and Alu flywheel install. My question is did you balance the pressure plate? Thats what the instructions say in the flywheel box.How would a machine shop balance a brand new pressure plate?

they bolt it to your flywheel and balance the assembly. you then can only bolt the pressure plate up one way or you are out of balance.

Yes, you should always balance the pressure plate TO the flywheel. If you really want to know how it is done, why don't you call your local machine shop and ask them?

The kids on this board won't know.

is it anything similar to balancing a wheel and tire? i've never heard of balancing a pressure plate to the flywheel though. pretty interesting, and good to know.

I balanced my pressure plate to my flywheel for my 13lb setup on my M30. I would highly reccomend it. I paid $90 for a flywheel resurface (it was totally messed up) and balanceing the flywheel and pressure plate together. It doesn't make a HUGE difference, but it helps when you use a really light flywheel like the aluminum one you plan on using.
I am sure you can get it done cheaper, and the pressure place comes already balanced, but you want to match them together.
