The 1 series might do well in the Grand AM "Street Tuner" class (God, I hate that name... why don't they go ahead and say it??? "The Ricer class")
But again, somebody has to take it on and develop it for racing from the ground up. That is not easy. It will take somebody like Turner or Bimmerworld or maybe TC Kline to do it. I think Bimmerworld has their hands full trying to get their E90's working well.
But, I too would love to see the 1 race. I think it would be a successful car. It weighs the same or more than my E46, but it is smaller. In race trim, it should be easier to get the weight out of it. With the mondo twin turbo or even just the 2.8, it will be a quick car for sure. I am thinking about buying one in about 10 years :D
Of course, the 1 has been racing in Europe for a few years now. Unfortunately, we don't get to see any of those races here. SPEED must spend 14 hours a day covering NASCAR so that barely leaves time for the infomercials.1987 E30 325is

Ahh, SPEED Channel... Yeah, I kind of noticed that the World Challenge favored The Acuras and the Mazdas. Which is too bad because there are other cars that I would like to see in that series. Maybe, just maybe, if we put our collective minds (and bank accounts) together, we here at R3V could make a 1 series racer. Not the greatest idea but, come on, it'd be fun.sigpic
Been over a year and it still doesn't the other motor mount made...

No. GT2.
Just to piggyback off this thread, here's a very interesting read about why Tafel switched from Porsche to Ferrari. Explains a lot about why there is only ONE team signed up to run Porsches this year.
Personally I think the 911's time at the top is done. Ferrari's were faster all year last year and have gained 1-2 secs already in winter testing. Porsche keeps preaching that their small aero tweaks and new tranny are going to get them back on top. Hmmm, I wonder why NO porsches were at Sebring during testing? Loyalities aside, I think the E92 will be quicker as well in '09.
As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.
