    First e30's off the line

Anyone know when exactly E30 production began? My vin shows a nov 82' build date. Does anyone know what the first vin numbers started at for LHD E30's?

I think the really early e30s started with a digit instead of the letter. The EARLIEST E30 production goes back to july 1982, but it was RHD and a prototype and doesnt really count as a production car. You really got a 11/82 e30? If so you might have one of the first e30s made since BMW's 11 E30 press release cars all have 12/82 production dates. Post vin??

Looks like they only used numbers in the beginning of VINs for their prototype cars. Okay take it off now lol.

            First model 7525000?

ok I tried something different. On real OEM I backtracked vin numbers until I got to the earliest results. A vin # of last 7 dig of 7525000 lists the earliest production of 12/81 e30 323i. During the next year 2500 323i e30's
were produced. Mine being #471. I assume the low production # was because they were still producing other models and were still in R & D mode. If this info seems correct i"d appreciate feedback. Thanks

I had a euro 323i that was a Dec. 82 car also, but it is long gone for about 10 years now. never seen one older that DEC. 82 here either. I also owned a few 1982 323 E21s here too.

Ignorant Federalization I beleive. I'm trying to find a rear but you probably know how difficult that is. I may have to tuck the rear and paint them both for a more uniform look or go with plastic rear and paint the front. Both will prob look like shizzle.
