    That damn 1221 code

Well i've done a shearch on the forum for my probleme and didnt find any.

I was driving tonight and the chek engine came on then turn off. Its made this like twice. I've look for code and it came with this O2 senser code 1221.

2 days ago i was stuck in the traffic. After an hour the Temp gauge was in red, i've parked my car and turn it off asap. Some smoke was coming from the hood for maybe 5 min. I left the car there for an hour, and came back. Start the car runs like 1 min and the coolant light came on. I've put 2 liter of preston. The temp gauge was at 1/4 and stay there. but it came rapidly at 1/2 and 3/4 when i was stop. 2 day after i had to put another 2 liter of preston because the light came back.

I've change my Thermostat 3 month ago. And i know i wasn missing coolant because a always ive a galon in the trunk just in case.

    Any idea on what should i look for ? I drove a 325I 91.

    Thx

Either air in the system or a leaking head gasket. Coolant doesn't just disappear unless there is something wrong.

O2 sensor code might just be a coincidence or maybe caused by the overly hot temperatures?

if your overheating at a stop, then it could be your fan clutch is bad.
