Seats for the GF: Input needed

Hey guys, the GF hates my Sports.

Her "Deluxe" or "Touring" or whatever the cloth non-sports are seem to fit her well, but are thrashed beyond belief.

Is there another similar seat commonly available in "power" (Her car is the Luxury version) that is a fairly simple bolt in or at least minimal welding?

E36 seats would be a nice choice.

Understand that she is 47, so think like "what would your Mom like" kind of stuff. She will never ever drive fast, but she does drive aggressively. Comfort and being able to get in and out easily is the #1 priority.

And yes, I wanted to find an E34 for her, but she loves her E30.

    Luke

i'm not positive, but i seem to remember e36 seats being a pretty straightforward swap, and that way she has her choice of lux/sports/vaders depending on her taste. All the e36 seats fit a little less aggressively than the e30 sports.

edit: just took a search and found a how-to. http://lukasmotors.com/e36_m3_vader_seat_install.htm

maybe not super easy but you get the idea.

Strange, because my mom(who happens to be a little bit older) actually prefers my sport seats to any of the seats in our other cars. These just happen to all be import/domestic vehicles however. I personally find that the sport seats are much more comfortable than a lot of other variations of BMW seats. But thats just IMO. Good luck with the search!

The e36 seats are pretty wide. I wasn't really ever happy with how they fit. You need to space them off of the floor due to low-hanging adjustment mechanisms also. They also will rub the tranny tunnel if you try to move them all the way forward. You will also need to find a different way to mount the seatbelt as the e36 seats wont fit in with the e30 bar.

I would just try to find some non sport e30 seats. It will be much cheaper/easier in the long run.

My sports on my TI were bad ass. I fucking loved those things. Theyre actually one seat IVe had that my girlfriend DIDNT bitch about. She even complains about the newer cars' seats.

Does that bolt in or do you need to make adapter brackets?

I would look at some e36 stock non-sport seats. You should be able to find a good deal on them over at bimmerforums.

OK, so Ken thinks E36 seats are not worth the hassle, she has the cloth whatever the fuck seats which I hate, she will NOT be OK with the milk crate. She is the ONLY person who has ridden in my car who does not love the sport seats, 'specially mine with the cloth/leather combo...fucking figures, huh? I think I am gonna find some E36 non-sports for her to try.

In the meantime, I am 6'1", 260ish, 50" chest, 19" neck kind of short legged fat fuck and I absolutely love the damn sport seats. Especially MINE!

                            thanks, guys.
