I'm thinking about going with black and changing my rugs to tan instead.

Is this your typical aftermarket kit that installs over your existing carpet?

I would love to find a true replacement for the factory Black carpet.

According to this info. I believe it does NOT go over your existing carpet.
          • Made with Top Quality materials from Dorsett Mills in Dalton, GA
          • Heat and pressure molded to the original floor pan, just like OEM Carpet
          • Mildew resistant jute padding is heat bonded to the backside
          • Heel pad is welded to the correct location
          • BMW 325i Carpet is Guaranteed against Defects
          • Will fit the following years: 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991

PS at this point I will go with black...BUT I still want to hear about some1's experience with these guys and their carpet quality.

I've used a kit before, it doesn't have all the molded foam, so noise will increase a little if you don't add some, overall it's a good product and easier than trying to lay plain material down.

ya I placed an order for the black ones. total came out to 224 including regular shipping.

I will definitely put a layer underneath cuz judging by this picture it's looks pretty thin.

I'd take the insulation off and run it like Euro carpet. But that's me.
