On a car this old, it would make sense to replace all of the hardware when you do a brake job.
My friend worked for Mercedes Benz of Beverly Hills for a few months, and he forgot to tighten down the caliper bolts on a G500. The caliper came off in traffic a few days later, and the customer rear-ended the car in front of him. Could have been much worse, but he threatened to sue the dealership. Amazingly, my friend didn't get fired, and luckily, no one got hurt.
That only happens when you're one of the "golden boys" in the shop. I left a brake caliper bolt loose on a Mercedes C280 last year the day after my grandmother died. Somehow I didn't get fired either, once in a while you just get lucky I guess.
