Ok. My dads computer's PSU went, and it took the motherboard processor, a cd rom drive and power supply with it.
So my friend put the motherboard and chip from my computer in from my computer, (1.2ghz AMD Athalon 286mb ram). The old processor was a Duron.
I got a new setup, but this setup was working fine in my computer.
My setup works fine but my dads has a tendancy to freeze randomly.
We are running Windows XP Home edition. The only consistent time that it will freeze is when a virus check is run. Any virus program (norton, trend, panda) causes it to freeze.
The Windows version is up to date and all of my hardware claims (when checked under control pannel) to be working correctly.
It had a lot of spyware yesterday and today while I was getting the windows updates and a virus but I got rid of all of that.
Note: It was also freezing when my friend put windows xp pro on it and it did not have any spyware or viruses, I just switched back to home for serial number reasons.
Any help would be great I am out of ideas and its driving me crazy.
