    masochism?

Next month, I am planning on taking a road trip from AZ back to NY in the old e30. It works out to about 4500 miles, give or take, there and back. I am doing this because all of my cool e30 stuff is located at my dad's shop in NY and I am stuck out here in this high desert shithole. With as much stuff as there is, shipping costs would be prohibative. Oh yeah, there is that whole family visit thing too. Anyway, to all you experienced road trippers, are there any small parts that you would that you would bring in case of failure? I am thinking fuel pump relay and fuses etc. I am bringing a small selection of tools, and all routine maintainence will be taken care of before I leave, along with any glaring faults.

    Thanks,
    Matt

shipping is too much? sure about that? truck freight the real heavy stuff and fedex home the rest. Still probably cheaper than gas and hotel on the road. I did NY to Oregon in 3.5 days and it cost me about 8 hundo for gas food and lodging, + a speeding ticket in eerie, pA.

    That's one way.

Get a ticket on southwest for a couple bills, visit the family, pack your stuff up, and ship back to the desert the good stuff. Unload the rest.

Nah man, I love road trips and hate flying. Ive done the drive before and enjoyed it quite a bit. There is a lot of shit too, wheels, whole interior, full suspention, steering rack, rear end, etc, etc. Thanks for the input though.

No, not into the car, on the car. All of that listed and more will be swapped from my old ride to this one.

Radar detector if you can find/buy/steal/have one
Basic car emergency stuff (road flairs, jumper cables, first aid kit, etc...)

As far as parts go, as long as in the car is in good mechanical shape, you shouldn't need anything. Fuel pump isn't a bad idea if it's never been changed though. Not exactly anyway to tell if it goes bad. But if you're buying one anyway, you might as well install it and have a new one and not have to change it on the road.
