    junkyard finds

Had to drive 2 hours to the U Pull It. But it was worth it. For $24 (Yes $24), I walked out of there with:

    7 series leather e-brake handle
    M20 AFM
    ashtray surround
later style rear parcel shelf and brake light
all sorts of misc lights and seat bolt covers

    and....
a drivers side 'is' factory side skirt (both pieces, but yes only drivers side) They are both cracked a little too, but for the price, what the hell, they need to be painted anyway. Now, I need to get the passenger side pieces.

My only real good junkyard find ever was a 3.73 LSD for $33. Usually my yard is raped too.

They don't even let people walk thru the yards here, and the one that does is only full of domestic cars from the mid to late 80's... :x

              Damn nice find though!

                Ah nice.
I have actually NEVER bought only parts from a junkyard. I always end up buying the whole car.

My best find thus far.. was a wrecked (front and rear) 86 325 auto with newly reupholstered sport seats. I got a lot of other good parts from it too. Whole car for $200.
I'm pursuing right now.. a 90 325is, also wrecked front and rear for $400 delivered.
It's so nice to have good connections :-)

i was at the junk yards on friday, came across some plastic bumpers, an IS trunk spoiler, and some door trim in good condition...but i forgot my tools, so i was kicking myself all the way home...

also found 2 sets of sport seats, one black, the other beige, the leather was trashed on both of them, but if some1 is interested in re-upolstering them, then i can pick them up.

The best I ever came up with is a complete "i" motor for $600. A guy I know owns a junkyard in SoCal so if he doesn't have the part, he can always find someone who does.

wow, $600 is a good deal on an i motor? ive been trying to sell mine for $500, and it has 140k miles and a brand new timing belt, water pump, thermostat, owned for 130k miles by a middle aged couple.

I got some great deals at one by my parents house...
I got an M30 valve cover/ignition wires/dist cap & rotor (all fairly new) for $20, and then I got a set of euro H1 headlights out of a Euro E21 323i for $5, e28 radiator and afm for $50.
Small yards are the best, the one I go to knows NOTHING about bimmers, but they only have 2 so there isn't much to get...
