    Boiling fog lamp housing?

    [I’ve done searching/researching]

About to remove pitted, cracked, glass fog light lenses.. do have hair dryer – don’t have full-on heat gun. Wish to make glass lens removal easy. (don’t wish to ‘break them up with a hammer’)

I dismantled the bracket and removed the outer-rubber gasket and light bulb.

I want to try boiling the housing in water for 15-20 min, then (more easily) pry off the glass with chisels.

    Anything wrong with this plan?

The easy way is to put them in the oven for like 5-10 min. What you do is set the oven for about 300 degrees then turn it off. Put the fog lights in there. This will melt the sealant so the lens can come off.

cool. Glad I asked. Relieved about not immersing them in water.

now just need to wait 'til after dinner..

        Thank you for input.
(this can/should be moved to 'lighting' i guess)

If you have a SO or parental units they probably aren't going to be happy about you melting silicone in the oven. If you live with a bunch of bachelors and riff raff then fuck 'em they probably don't do the dishes anyway.
