I was in a tight spot

I had to travel about 2 hrs. this weekend for work. Sunday afternoon I realized that my car is dead, left the lights on Sun morning in a rush. So the power door locks wouldnt even work.

About a year ago someone tried to break into my car by banging a flat head screwdriver into my trunk button. They didnt get in but they did fuck up the lock, however the trunk button would still work so long as the car was unlocked. So I have never gotten around to replacing it as i use my alarm to unlock the car. You with me so far?

So seeing that my car didnt have enough power to even use the central locking system, I could not get into my trunk to access the battery to get a jump! And as I said my key wouldnt work to unlock it either.

So if I cant unlock my trunk with the key and central locking wont work how do I get my car jumped? Well I had to take apart my back seat and try and fit through the ski hole, but my shoulders wouldnt fit. long story short, a long screw driver and a flashlight, I could reach the trunk lock and manually unlock it. It was actually easier than I thought it would be.

I just wonder what someone would do if they didnt have a ski hole? But let this be a lesson to replace that trunk button if it's broken. I definitely learned mine.

Break a side window. They're plentiful and cheap.

Wait, so your key holes in your doors actually work? I would be fucked if my trunk lock didn't work because the key will not turn in either of the doors. But that just made it an easy decision to shave them.

And yeah, one of the rear side windows would be the first to go for me if I had to.

Sorry you had to go through this.

You could have manually opened the hood using a flat blade screwdriver and jumped it via the power block, located on the firewall behind the right side strut tower. I have jumped my car this way plenty of times.

        Live and learn.

But how would that give you access to the trunk where the battery is?

+1 there is a terminal on the firewal and just put the ground on the engine somewhere.

is it the one coming out of the fire wall that kind of looks like a battery terminal?

yup, has a big red + on it. That's your +12v distro block.

I would just use that and ground to the engine lift hook at the front of the head.

Shit I don't know, I just thought it would be fun to break a window.

also, if you really felt like using the battery to get a jump (even though I'd rather go directly to the engine), you could have just used the underhood connections to give power to your central locking system.

Lol, in fact doesn't the manual even go so far as to suggest jumping it from under the hood instead of at the battery?
