so many more issues created than solved with this idea. cool concept, but no practicality.

I take it no one here watches eco tech. Remember it does say composite wood panels. But i think he should have made it on a CF frame and a V10 TDI biodieseal engine for comsumer confidence.

          I like it.

I also think you guys underestimate wood. Ever try to set a large piece of wood on fire? It's pretty damn hard, especially when it's a hardwood.

And warp and shrinkage can almost be eliminated by using different types of wood. Look at wooden canoes for god sakes. It's not like the car is made of pine and balsa wood or something.

Oh, and trees are a renewable resource, oil is not.

I call BS. Wooden control arms and springs? I was buying it until then. Supercars have so much suspension forces. I have a hard time believing that the suspension geometry has grade 8.8 bolts into mdf. Even carbon fiber cars have a metal latice chasis for the suspension to bolt to don't they? Maybe I can't think outside the box./

ill take an e30 over a hybrid anyday of the week. and as for the wooden car, id never buy or drive that period. imagine if it got in anykind of accident? its not just bent metal, its now a pile of wood splinters and fuel. with you inside. .. not a situation id put myself in.
Sorry, you're wrong. It's not an emissions issue - but what goes into making all of those batteries.

They are made of maple and have metal tabs that bolt to the frame:

Spring is a transversely mounted leaf spring (similar to the Corvette):

And most carbon fiber cars are pure carbon with lightweight metal alloy subframes bolted to CF chassis to support the engine/suspension.

Would hate those springs to snap while driving or crashing for that matter.

Looks like an awesome item / project, but not for actual use, It just doesnt make sence, this car hurts my head.
