    clearing brakes with steelies

    Hi,
I just got a set of 16x8 diamond racing steelies and the front brakes don't clear. I grinded the caliper and it seems like a 5mm spacer will work just fine (bringing my offset to almost zero). ANybody had experience with that, just trying to get some feedbacks and possible alternative solutions.

    Thanks

    what part is rubbing?

If it's the wheel center, then you don't have much choice but to run a spacer. Some wheels are just like that- and some are made with a curved out wheel center to get around that.

That's exactly it, I guess that is due to the design of the wheels. I have grinded one side and it seems like a 5mm spacers will do. I'll post updates once I'm done in case somebody else would end up in that situation.

Should have ordered the right kind of steelies and you wouldn't have that problem. See if you can exchange them.

what backspacing did you order? If I were to order steelies I would get 5.25" offset and use a 1/4" spacer up front.
