Running a non intercooled turbo setup is like running a marathon without water. Even the smallest IC makes a huge difference.

Not at all, it's usually the "cheaper" alternative, which ends up being much more expensive later because you blew shit up/overheated.

Don't worry, I'm putting together a turbo kit that will be affordable..and itll be good. My kit will be bolt on.

We are currently prototyping the kit on a e34 525i...owner is having it dyno'd this weekend for a base hp figure.

:) best part is its gonna be more affordable than many other kits out there. and it bolts on.

Will it be smog legal for us E30 people in California?

Also, would you recommend that the Head Gasket be changed even on a lower mileage motor running low (7-8psi) boost?

                I'm in FTW!

I'm researching the idea of a turbo for my whip. I really like the 666fab adaptor they sell. I was going to piece together a kit with that unit, but I'd like to see what your offering looks like. Especially if all the "finding the right part" is taken care of and it really is a true bolt on kit.

Depends on who you ask. If I were to run an intercooler, it would be water-to-air because I believe it is more efficient. Having an intercooler up front period, not to mention the water-to-air setup, adds weight where I dont want it.

The intercooler also adds more piping, which takes longer to fill with the charge, so there is a tiny bit more lag, which is also not something I want.

That said, my friend has owned an '88 E30 since '89. In '88 it was bought by Korman so that they could prototype a turbo setup. It is non-intercooled with Motronic management and puts down a healthy 245 whp and 245 lb/ft at 6 psi. The car has no lag at all, and has been tracked constantly since he bought it. Never had any overheating problems at all either.

He usually comes by work on Wednesdays for beer night. 50% of the time he drives it, so I'll try to get pictures.

It is a 2.7 litre built using the diesel crank. I believe that it uses SETA pistons, but I'm not positive.

He's also got some little lightweight flywheel and a Korman 75% 3.73 lsd.

I used to know more about it, but I forgot the exact specs.

Korman no longer offers a turbo kit, and it was the same things as TCD, or previously know as CarTech.

They came with a sidemount intercooler setup, most factory turbo cars come with an intercooler so that should tell you something.

Keep me posted about this turbo kit, you have any estimate to when this will be available? I'm looking to boost over the winter.
