    Pics of yesterdays score

here's some pics yall wanted. Actually a 91 per the title. Put a new battery in it and went tearing around the neighborhood. Runs pretty good. Only thing is are these motors naturally buzzy ? I've never dirven one with this motor. Maybe valve adjustment with some 20w50. Noticed 20w30 bottles in trunk. But I really don't know what to do with this car. Put what it needs in to it ? Turn it and sell it as is ? Part it ?

i know that the m20's have a tick, but the m42s i am not sure about. however with the m42 they do a make a supercharger for it....:) i recommend that
M3 springs w/bilstein hd's, IE 22/19mm sway bars, front IE stress bar, complete suspension rebuild, IS interior.

I like it. I'd keep it and use it for a DE car. M42's are fun to drive.

no man m42's do make some odd noise but are great motors, and screw a super charger throw a small turbo on there and have fun with its exceptional handling capabilities. That should be a fun car if nothing else

Timing chain tensioner may need replacing, they make noisy rackets in your engine and are very cheap and easy to replace. Just make sure you tighten that sucker up, don't want it falling out of place.

If it had no sunroof, I'd buy it.

Here is some useful info: http://www.esatclear.ie/~bpurcell/index.html

I always post it because it is a great link for the 318iS. All 318iS cars were designated as '91 models.

I dunno about other m42 owners, but I've always ran Mobil1 15w50. It absolutely purrs when ran with that oil. The heavier weight seems to make things run a lot smoother. Especially during our ridiculously hot summers. I ran Mobil1 5w30 one oil change just to see how it was(got a case for free), never running that again.

                      dam

well looks like a good car, please dont rape it, then curb it, then part it out.

drive it, it gets great MPG for being 16 years old. mine got 29mpg, all freeway here in texas.. I love mine so much.

BTW: 20-50 is what it loves to sip on.

PS: before you change the oil run some ATF in it get it hot and then drain and fill, the valves are non adjustable. mine had a morning buzz. a horrible one, and supposedly the hydraulic lifters have a hole in them to let the oil expand and retract, when its clogged you get your buzz. cleaned that out and bam good as new. They all shit there pants in the morning to, so keep it revved up for like two seconds intill it clears it throat.
                      did I mention I love my M42?
happy motoring. and make sure its got 50/50 mix coolant in it, im sure you know how cold it gets here in texas, especially where your at, I all ready lost a freeze plug on my other cars.

needs tires, and a muffler. Plus a trip to Pick N Pull for nick nacks. Plan now is to resell it once it's back in shape and cleaned up. Suspension seems tight, still need to put on stands. Good shocks and struts. No oil leaks other than PS hose.
