    Gmail a scam?

here is a responce some one gave me in another forum

"It's also run by google (employment at google, btw, generally requires U.S. Gov't security clearance, and most of the employees used to work for "three letter organizations" in Washington...). They have admitted that while they'll give you a gig of storage, and allow you to delete the messages from your account, they will not, in fact, ever erase said messages. They also advertise that they will do keywork scans on all incoming and outgoing mail (an arguable violation of privacy of the people sending it to you, as they've agreed to nothing, unlike the account holders, who agree to this invasion of privacy). Theoretically, they will be doing said scans to "better target advertising" to you (did I mention your email will have ads stuck in it?). Of course, considering the terabytes of information they store on a routine basis, who knows what they may wind up using it for sometime down the road...... See, for more information, here.

(Incidentally, if you do websearches using google, you might want to be aware that they put a cookie on your machine that gives you an ID number, and they store on their end the collection of all searches you've ever done, as well as what IPs you did them from... the cookie has a default expiration time of 36 years... What's so bad about google? Read this. If you have a gmail account, the searches thereof will also be added to this info base... For websearches I'd strongly suggest www.dogpile.com, a metasearch engine that includes google, but is much more effective, and has a 48 hour cookie.)"

yes, and they make this info publicly viewable.

They have an automated system that scans your email for keywords, and then google will send you items you might be interested in. you then tell them you're not interested, and they wont search for your keyword.

I mean, come on. You think your email with your ISP is safe? Ever run a POP3 server?
My mountains are better than yours.

We should probably start with France, just because it would be easy and nobody would care. Then we could rape that countries resources to build up our abilities. Then Canada, half of them are basically French so that means we would only have to worry about the mountain men (although it would take a couple years to hear that we invaded).

As for g-mail nothing is an invasion of privacy. If you send something on thier property they have every right to read it. Same goes for work, they can listen to your phone calls if they wish.

I have my own firewalled server so Im all good. Plus Yahoo does more than I ever need for internet BS.
                  Im now E30less.

Hotmail responded, I felt sure they would! They are going to offer 250MB of storage and the ability to send 10MB attachments, all for free.

When is that taking place? Perhaps I'll stick with hotmail.
