    CMI Engineering Turbo

Anyone ever hear of this company? I am looking at the "Street Demon" series Turbo kit, it comes with everything needed,

-T3/T4 turbo with wet float bearings
    -321 stainless steel manifold
-2,5" inlet/2.5" outlet intercooler with all the piping
    -boost controler
    -blow off valve
    -cooling fan
    -35mm wastegate
    -electronic turbo timer
    -fuel pressure regulator
    -catch can

Just wondering if anyone has any feedback on this setup?

    Never heard of it. Link?

Also, that's not a complete kit. You still need exhaust, fuel/spark management and gauges.

Are "wet float bearings" a fancy way of saying "bushings"?

Google's got nothing on it that I can find, other than http://www.cmimports.co.uk/web-pages...cessories.html. Sounds scary to me.

They are selling the same kit with oil return lines for almost twice as much. They are selling the oil line kit for $90 in the accessories section. Something just doesnt jive.

No, it just isn't a ball bearing turbo. They're very common on IHI's that came on volvo's, mustang svo's, mazdas etc they use a thin film of oil pressurized across the shaft as a bearing. It's common among turbos. If it's not ball bearing it's this.

Eh, it's more complete than most ebay kits I've seen. Still an ebay turbo kit. Be prepared to work to make everything fit.

Yea, who cares if you have to make it work, where else can you find a full kit like that for 1000$?

Well, the turbo is junk and the manifold is prone to cracking. It's definitely a good start, but you will probably be replacing a few things a few months in. One or two people have tried it with success. You're going to need to spend at least another grand for the "little things" that are not included in that setup (injectors, clutch, gauges, wideband, engine management, downpipe+exhaust).

Still, $2k for a turbo setup is not bad. Comparatively, I built mine for $3k all said and done. Of course, mine is with a real turbo, oil lines and a sturdy manifold.

Don't do that to your car please. It is WAY too clean. If you are serious about turbos and e30s talk to Matt Kosonen or Ben R in Oly.
