^is that thing you're describing something akin to what the hardcore indie music fan feels when their favorite indie band signs to a major label? The homogenization of their product? I'm trying to understand why you feel the cars are less involving even though you like the designs.

I can hear thunder now as I type this, but I think Ben's post is right on point and one of the few in this thread with any intelligent thought put behind it.

drive a new car and then drive a properly set up e30 or 02. you will need no explanation. when you drive an e30 or an 02 you actually drive and you know whats going on with every aspect of the car. new cars are way too isolating and not for me. no thanks

x2. I've had a bunch of cars and driven a lot more - e30s and 2002s (esp 1600s) are just the best hands down.

                      I don't care what everyone says. If I had 70k, I'd get a new M3 in a heartbeat!!!!!!

well, i started this thread to promote discussion more than just take a side and proceed to bash.

Sean, what about the new m3 do you like?
                        If I had a choice, i'd go for the e46 m3 and the e30 m3 would be a very close 2nd.
                        Like i said before...the angles really...irk me...

Oh, I'd take an e30 M3 first too. But, it just looks soo damn good! Sounds amazing, and looks downright badass. It just flows so well.
