hahaha sorry old thread revival. jesse, ive had a ms3 for about a year now and i rarely drive my e30 anymore.. though my e30 way way out handles it. the boost comes on strong and i keep up with e46 M3s on the highway and in the twisties. ive only got an upgraded rear motor mount and intake and dual mode blow off. its great. plus warranty is a good thing to have. -
mazdaspeed 3 is a nice car, i got to drive a mazda 3 when shoppin for a daily driver and its not that bad of a car.
although my favorite car that i drove is the mazdaspeed 6.
awd and looks like a total sleeper.
how much is the ms3 btw?
cuz i got my specv for 18k.Leave a comment:

Didnt read a bit of the thread, so I dont know if you changed your mind yet or not..
I test drove a Mazdaspeed 3 when my little brother was shopping for his first car. It was a blast! The picky little bastard didnt want a hatchback though, so he ended up getting another kind of M3.

i wasn't impressed with the 350z, i test drove one a few months ago and really the only thing i liked was the braking. That car needs more torque to be exciting.Leave a comment:

Yeah i also looked at those last night, they're cool cars i just cant really see myself in one.
yes i will be financing it, i am young but i have a good job and make a decent chunk of change. i really would not be considering taking on a car payment unless i was in a stable enough situation to afford one. Will you be financing said Speed3?
If the answer to the above question even remotely resembles a "Yes", then I would have to say that you may find more practical solutions for a daily/hauler/tripper. Nothing worse than being young (which I assume you are) and bogged down with interest and payments.
If an attraction to WWD should persist, perhaps some consideration for the Focus SVT should be in order. Eager chassis, two or four door hatch, smaller price tag, little less grunt.
Good luck to you in whatever you choose.
and the focus just doesnt do much for me. i've never been a big fan of the oval.
i dont see why everyone is so opposed to a fwd car, granted its not best for spirited driving but im looking into this car as something i wont get bored of in the first month, its not going to be a track rat. thats why i have the e30 :)Leave a comment:

Will you be financing said Speed3?Well with how my e30 has been big headaches lately I'm needing to pick up a second car (a long time coming) and im seriously considering the mazdaspeed 3. 6 speed transaxle, limited slip and a 263 hp/280 ft lb tq. turbo 4 banger is really tempting.
Also its a hatchback so i have plenty of room to just throw stuff in the back and head out for a weekend trip (I tend to travel a lot). It seems like it does pretty well on gas for sport compact and has a pretty decent after market even though the extent of modifications would be just some more attractive wheels/tires, turbo back exhaust and lowering springs.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any thoughts at all on this car.

Thanks for posting that link. Interesting results, especially vs. the 350z. I know the Z is down on HP/weight ratio, but I didn't expect it to disappear quite so easily.Halfway decent 350z vs. Mazdaspeed3 vs. STi vid: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=C2-78hZlJfg
What're Speed3's putting down with the intake/exhaust/tune combo?

Yeah those things are petty quick. My buddy was on the freeway and one was coming up on him in his E30 which is fairly quick, so my friend dropped to 3rd and kinda evened things out but then the MS3 dropped gears as well and blew him the fuck away.
I would like them a bit more if they had the power going to the right place. FWD cars just aren't any fun. I would have more respect for a lot of them if they were RWD. Even the ones that sounds like they are running on 2 cylinders when they down shift.(srt4)

i think with mild some mild tuning it would be putting down around 240-250 at the wheels. i just want the car to be fast enough to keep me entertained. cause i still need to throw my money into the e30 and finish that up.Halfway decent 350z vs. Mazdaspeed3 vs. STi vid: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=C2-78hZlJfg

The boost cut could even be as simple as a micro switch that is triggered by the gear levers position in 1 and 2.Leave a comment:
