Done any wiring recently? Remove the cluster, check the circuit board for shorts, check the connector and wires. Same thing behind the HVAC panel. Disconnect the cluster and replace the fuse...see if it blows.
It'd help if you had a wiring diagram to tell what all is on that circuit and what wires to check.sigpic

Yeah the other day that happen to me it was the cigarett lighter. that wire was real bas as the year went back at first i thought it was the fuse circuit and i thought that something always has a reason for going rong or bad always start from the root of the problem never just change the part it bound to happen again and you end up waistin money on bullshit when it is simple as 123. lol good luck bro

i haven't done any wiring or anything recently. ive been told by someone else that it's most likely the reverse cable by the shifter. my reverse lights aren't even operational. i felt up by the shifter but couldn't feel any cables. anyone know an exact location on that?what exactly is sigworthy

same problem with my car 2years ago, it was the wires running through the shirter boot to the backup lights etc, pulll your shift knob and boot off then pull up inner boot from tunnel the wires are there if not a little hard to get to. [I] found this info by searching. good luckI want an M3!!

this started occuring for my eta as of yesterday and I spent the better part of the evening sorting it out. the culprit was the seat belt warning circuit, and was remedied (after some dillegent searching thru r3v) by unplugging the two wire connector under the seat. what had vexed me the most was when the k5/k7 relays, the reverse connector and the guage cluster were all unplugged the car was still blowing fuses and yet the green/white wire (at shifter boot) wasn't registering continuity with the chassis ground. well, using my Fluke it was blipping but wasn't holding continuity like there was a relay involved...but the clutster (with the seatbelt circuit) were unplugged so...wtf? i've been drinking so it's likely i overlooked something in the schematics. anyways, thats the story for posterity and whomever has this problem in the future and has the foresight to use the search function. toodles!
