I have yet to see an e30 driver get hurt through pretty much a controlled accident. You are very lucky you took hold of the car and avoided what could be by far worse, but your baby sacrificed herself for you. You owe her big time. Sad to see another e30 go to a scrap yard, and our club get even smaller. Good luck with school, and hope everything works out for the best for you.
Hm.. a truck trailer totals your car, almost killing you in the process, and you leave the scene? I've never been in a such traumatic event, but I'm pretty sure I'd stop, call the police, press charges, and sue the operator for a large sum of money. You should've stopped even if you yourself caused the accident. That's what you pay the insurance company for.
You better pray extract hard that nobody reported your license plate, and can pick you out in a line-up, or you might actually end up in jail for leaving the scene.
+1
And let me add. By not calling the police, that trucker could do the samething to someone else and end up killing them. But instead you worried about yourself and then posted it up on the internet, while the trucker is out there on the road still. If you did call the cops, they could of got it on record and hopfully catch the guy. Let's hope it don't happen to anyone else, cause if the police do find out about you and this. i hate to see what would happen.

But aside from that, glad to hear you're ok. My brother had a traumatic accident in his e30: He got t-boned by a pickup truck going 50mph.. Lucky sob walked out without a scratch. I wanted to give him a few afterwards, but he's still my little bro. e30's are strong cars.
How is he going to find the truck? If the truck doesnt stop and you just went through that experience, you'd park your car just out of the scare. No way in hell would a sane person can disregard what just happened and try to chase a truck with a car that just got run over to get a tag number or some basic information.
I mean, I'm all for justice and whatnot, but sometimes you gotta weight if it's worth it or not.
Luis, I posted on SFLDrifters just now. Sucks man, but if there's anything I can help with let me know. It does suck that I never got my chance to tandem with you to get some media of an e30 tandem. But hopefully soon down the road :)
guys have to understand what my desicion was based on. We did call the police. The conversation was all about did someone get injured, are you injured are there any other cars involved etc etc etc as i was talking to the lady she made me realize that because i couln't even describe the COLOR of the truck (it was nightime, raining hard + i doubt i even scratched his trailer) that the chances of him being found were low.
i knew i was okay and realized that any legal problems that could arise was just extra. Justice exists in more ways, the legal system/lawyers are so false, diluted, corrupt, difficult, EXPENSIVE, irrational and time consuming that i decided it was simply not worth it. I could have made money sure but i'm starting to believe i did the right thing for me...even my father suggested this at one point. karma will get the trucker.
trust me, after going through something like that, if that trucker had stopped i would have clubbed him with the 3-iron i had in my back seat. i'm still furious thinking at how fast he cut into me, blinkers and everything like i wasnt there. had someone else been involved/stopped (OH CAUSE NOBODY EVEN PULLED OVER ex my friends who saw me by luck...i've pulled over for other people atleast 5-6times, even ran across a street for a car who's exhaust was dragging and it set the gas tank on fire. sad eh?!) or had my car not been able to drive home the solution would have been totally different.
No more e30s for me.

Any news on finding the semi? I cannot imagine he didn't notice you swinging underneath his trailer?! I mean, come on, that could cause a lot of extra drag - he HAD to notice!!
Have you ever driven a semi? You could easily bump a dozen cars the size/weight of an e30 off the road and not even feel it. There is ALOT of inertia in a truck, if it's raining hard the spray from the wheels will make anything behind/beside you nearly invisible. I'm sure you've passed a truck in the rain, been drenched by their spray and couldn't see shit.
You would think that they would hear the sound of screeching tires though and pull over, jeeze.
As i'm reading last post, you should have also called Ripley's Believe It Or Not. And F da police. They would probably charged you with improper equipment, for your tires, improper visibility, for what happened to your windshield, and probably something about structural integrity for the A-beam. Don't know how old you are, but you're probably still very young, and cops love that the most. Very wise going home.
Glad to hear you walked away.. That's an amazing story.
I sent my '92 GTI through 2 telephone poles (I cut the 2nd one in half; my car was 6 feet in the air when it hit the second pole) and landed on top of a brick mail box. The events leading to that and after that ran threw my head one thousand times and still do. . . But in the end, I walked away, dealt with all the stuff from that one event/ moment and moved one.
You'll carry those 30 seconds with you for the rest of your life... Don't worry about the should have's/ could have's now.
