trip to wreckers, need some help

I have an 84 318i and want to grab a turbo for it. what car can i look for that would have a stock turbo that i can use on the m10 i saw a new volvo there today that still had the turbo in it but wasnt sure if it would work. is there any japanese cars that came with a decent turbo please help me out here. along with the turbo what else should i grab. help me out here guys, i am only here for one day.

any turbo will work with the right manifold and such. id say if you see any turbo grab it up and even if you dont wanna use it just sell it.

Old diesel mercedes have decent sized turbos, old supras, and some vw's, saabs, audis, and volvos have them.

I would avoid the smaller turbos from the last 4 mentioned, but some volvos have t4's so those would be adequate. I can't tell you which models though.

yeah, any turbo will work- and one you get off a POS car at a Pick N Pull yard is likely to be in PERFECT shape too......

It would probably be easier to find a 745i drivetrain and bolt it into a 735i.

it is an m10, so you honestly dont need a huge turbo. I would look for the above mentioned, and then pay attention or look if they are internal/external waste gate. that and a manifold/adapter will determine what will work. You might have to make your own manifold to adapt that turbo. So maybe if its easy to get to, remove the manifold that the turbo is mounted to and use that for making your own.

Shit son, thanks for the list lol. I have been hoping to find a turbo on the cheap for my jetta, so I can fix the exhaust leak on it.

I would say saabs would be a good bet. Maybe a 4000 or 5000 audi (I forget which has a turbo) I think they used little k03s, same with the S-Line but on a bigger motor.
