    hood not closing, help

im new to r3v (from bimmerforums) have had 2 e36s before this e30 i got 2 weeks ago

my hood wont lock down, the thing that holds it down doesn't spring back up, its loose in the cradle (the latch)

heres a pic of it before any mods aside from the blacked out grill i did the night i got it home and the pinstripes i took off (not really a mod), just got done doing the shadow line, fogs have smoke lam-x and the roof wind defusers off

On the front right side of the radiator core support there are two bolts that hold the hood latch in place. Just adjust the latch until it functions properly. I'm not quite sure what your asking though, your hood looks fine in that picture you posted.

i took that pic the day after i got it, it happened today right before i was gonna go to a meet, i pushed the hood down and it popped right up and i looked at the latch and and i could move it with my fingers and it just stayed where i put it

i took the kidneys and grill off and was gonna take the bolts you speak off out but just decided to go meet up with them in my mazda since they've already seen the e30, ill try it in the morning

        sweet car

I love the way e30 hoods close. So satisfying!
Not that I care, of course.

Check the hood release handle in the car. Mine got stuck in the release position, then the hood would not close... maybe thats it?

              same here.

most common I seem to have come across.

im on rt44 (smith st) next to la salle academy

ok so i had to take the kidneys, drivers side grill, head lights in order to sneak the latch (both 10mm bolts removed) through a hole behind the headlights. it was a spring that got knocked off its mounting so now its fine, w00t
