    E34 differential in E30?

Would a differential from an E34 5 series fit in an E30? If not, what needs to be done to make it fit?

    Thanks

    Change the output flanges.

Okay, I'm looking at buying an E34 differential (limited slip) for an auto to manual swap so I already have a 2.93 open differential in my E30.

Can I use the output flanges from the 2.93 and put them on the E34 differential?

Yes, I believe so, You ought to ask Chris to swap them to E30 flanges, as he might have them lying about the shop.

The e34 diff will not bolt right up the e30
            the e28 will though .
you might beable to swap the guts of the diff
            the e34 used a 3 bolt mount and the e30 uses a 5bolt

Is swapping the internals fairly easy? I'm not too experienced, but I'm having my uncle help me with the auto to manual swap and if its not toooo challenging he can probably help me with that also. Thanks for the help guys

I could be wrong, but only a fool would want a 2.93 diff for any e30.

Internals are by no means easy to swap. Setting up pinion depth and angles is a precise process and is akin the rebuilding a transmission or an internal engine section.

E28 diffs will swap, E34's will not. There are likely no gear ratios available for the E34 that are even desireable anyway.

Brett Anderson at Koala Motorsports is about the sharpest guy in the business when it comes to diffs and he has several options available from his outfit. Custom clutch discs, special ramps for the LSD (3 different dyanmic lock ratios).
