Not saying it's the fastest car ever, or even very quick, it's heavy, but still respectably quick (even with stock sti's and such to 100 then it's gone, for what it's worth) but when it comes to a highway roll, you have to be kidding yourself or just no dick about the cars to think you walk away from them on the highway.
BTW you nitpicking the comparison between the eta and i's and M does nothing but prove my point, that being you know your car is slow and therefor have to feel there is a point to be proven.
A fast car is fast, regardless of what cars are slower or faster. Beating another car is just a win and losing is just a loss, that doesn't make your car any faster or slower. We both have slow cars, get over it. Very, very fun slow cars, and slow car racing is the best kind sometimes, but you need a reality check. It's just plain dangerous to drive around with your head that far lodged up your anus.

I bought an eta because it's in great condition, and I know that no m20's are fast from the factory much less 20 years down the line, all I was buying was a nice commuter. I have a 3000GT VR4 for a go fast car. The only way to have a really fast E30 is to swap out the m20, at which point, all that matters is the condition of the interior of your car basically. I love the E30 community, I just find it laughable how a lot of the i/is owners constantly feel the need to try and justify how great and fast their car is just because it beats out the econotuned version.... big whoop. A Civic Si is faster than a Civic Ex, so congratulations tool, go walk outside and turns the "is" on your trunk lid around, you just became a ricetard in your POS 20 year old car.
Let's take a minute and analyze your comparison of ETAs vs. ISs vs. M3s:
The ETA motor produced 121bhp, the I motor produced 168bhp and the S14-powered M3 had 195bhp in stock form.
The E30 body weighs near as makes no difference, 2850 lbs.
On an ETA this makes 85 bhp per ton, an IS therefore has 118 bhp per ton and an M3 has 137 bhp per ton.
Therefore an E30 M3 has 19 more bhp per ton than a 325is and the latter has 33 more bhp per ton than an ETA. And this is all stock mind you...
This is a pretty large gap so your statement about ETAs and ISs being much closer than ISs and M3s completely wrong. Suspension is different on all three models and all three can be modified. The 325is has a much lower final drive ratio than the E car so not only does it have more power it is able to transfer more of that power to the pavement.
I've never driven a Geo of any kind so I can't comment on that aspect of your rant but I can tell that based on your misguided comparisons amongst the different E30 models you probably have a skewed view of how fast cars actually are. On stock suspension with compounds it pulled a .98g, and even stock they lift the rear tires before they understeer, the turn in is amazing. My favorite part is when I mention this car, and people start BS'ing saying "geo metro" or "geo prism" and have no idea what a storm is anyways, but think it is far inferior to an E30 at the track or auto-x, so commence flaming... then when curiousity sets in go yahoo/google geo storm and find out about another old cheap cool fun car. Yes it's fwd... but unless you drift or drag race, which most of your cars can't do anyways, then they will kick your ass track or auto-x. Not hating on E30's, again, just the people talking crap about mk2's outhandling E30's so easily.

I think your best bet (short of paying Skip Barber) is to find a very large deserted place with good pavement and some guys with proven driving skills to hang out with and have at it...Sounds like an autocross to me.
