To the OP.

That's a good question (I mean this sincerely).

Me personally, I cant drive for shit anymore (too old and slow on the reactions) however I know know how it's done. I think your best bet (short of paying Skip Barber) is to find a very large deserted place with good pavement and some guys with proven driving skills to hang out with and have at it...Sounds like an autocross to me.

More on the GTI, is this mk1 or mk2 ? Also just because it lifts it's inside rear doesn't really mean that it handles the best ;) (had one). I just somehow doubt that car A on shitty tires will outhandle another car B that has been "gone through" as you put it.

The GTI has an fk 60/40 cup kit and some prothane tidbits here and there

My e30 has bilstein sports, h&r race springs, kmac camber casters, sparco strut bar, new control arms, m3 solid CAB, IE urethane rear shock mounts and sub frame bushings, ST spec e30 sway bars with urethane bushings, and bav auto eccentric urethane trailing arm bushings. Tires are Nitto Gen 205/50/16. If there is anything that has not been touched as far as the suspension goes short of and m roadster conversion please let me know cause i'd like it to handle better. Jeremiel5, e30 fiend, and e30 polak can attest to how well my suspension is set up. But i can assure you that both of my cars take the same turns at the same speeds governed by when the back comes out on the e30 and the front comes out on the GTI. I have no dought raffi from eurosport could kick any one of our e30's (M3's included) asses in his 120hp GTI. He did beat that 600hp Porsche and many other high dollar sports cars.

its pretty common in mkI and mkII's with stock snowflakes and some race springs. A gutted rabit weighs about 2000lbs. My gti with shocks, springs and the worlds crappiest generic narrow tires will out handle my e30 that has been completely gone through. I'm sure i'd have no problem lifting a tire with some 300 treadwear 205's.

But good tires on a e30 make a big on being able to maintain or recover from a powerslide. Some go cart tracks have a powerslide slick track.

What was the story behind that? I assume you saw it? I would imagine super sticky tires and some insane offset that some VW guy like to run might make for a nasty combo??? No curbs or anything involved?
