It was a standard 540i with an M5 badge. No M interior, you could see the cluster and other parts of the interior pretty clearly at times.

Everyone thought the E36 in 2Fast 2Furious was an M3 too, but it was a 318is with an M5 badge.

Even though they only had a 3 movie stint with within the 007 series, Q lab's modified BMWs kick ass. Although I don't like the styling of the the 7's that much, theres no way I'd pass on a remote controlled E38.

pretty sure it was a 535i then

they had several BMW's though, so maybe one of them was an M5
Not that I care, of course.

IIRC, there was only one E34 M5 during filming, and the rest of the shots were done with a few E34 535i's.

I thought i saw an mtech wheel. I'll have to bust it out and watch it again. Still a good chase seen.

Not necessarily, I believe Europe had the 540i since 1992. The wider grilles weren't seen until MY94.

Check MyE28.com for that E28 you're looking for. There are many to be had out there, and their prices haven't soared like the E30's have. In fact, they've been quite steady for the last few years. Delphin on black would be a awesome color combination, I'd love to find one sans M-Tech 1 trunk lip. I love the bare, spoilerless trunk lids on those cars. I'll keep my eyes peeled if anyone is planning on selling a delphin 535i.

actually I think it was a euro 735i in Transporter..?

damn a 740i sport w/ a 5spd would have to be one of my dream BMW's
Not that I care, of course.

Who knows, it's likely there may have been an M-Tech wheel in one of the 535i's. I'm not sure if they had a M-Sport type program over in Europe like they do nowadays. I believe many of the interior shots were taken in the M5. The tell-tale sign would probably be the in-seat armrests, which E34 M5's do not have. That, and of course, the instrument cluster.

The Transporter car was a 735i 5-speed IIRC. What an awesome car. Does anyone know what motor those things have? I never knew if it was a later iteration of the M30 or what. I'm 90% sure it's a straight-6, ruling out the M60.

EDIT: A Wikipedia search yields that the E38 735i did in fact have a M62B35. I never realized there was such a version of the M60 available. Combined with a 5-speed manual in a 7er, that would be a riot.

                            2. Nah, I'm in no hurry. I'll wait until my friend wants to sell. I doubt I could find one this clean/fast anyway. Seriously, it's been in a garage all its life and the motor runs like a wipped gorilla

Yeah, and of course reliability was never, ever a concern with the M30's. TCD has a few different turbo packages available for the M30. Quite potent from what I understand.

well some of the earlier m30 heads are prone to cracking, but my bavaria had 3 different cracks before it stopped running

after '83 it was smooth sailing, because they changed the casting anyway.
