New guy here with possible stupid question!

Hi everyone. I'm James. I live in Maysville Ga, and have recently purchased an 87 325e. (we'll call her 'slow momma' for now). For those of you who may have attended the world record drive, it was the red e30 4x4 monster truck on the "ugly" gold bbs wheels. Little body damage here and there. I was the ugly puerto rican guy with glasses who really didn't speak to anyone, just stood there with an umbrella looking at everyone. (though I did blow the horn at dude who works at Strictly German).

Now here comes the question part:

An associate of mine told me his sister would sell me her 89is for 600 dollars. Only thing wrong with it is, that it is an automatic with a a bad transmission. If I'm not mistaking that motor has more pep than mine right? So the question is, will the 89is engine mate up with my "e" 5 speed? (no need in warning me of the amount of things I will need to change along with the engine, somehow I've become really good at out of series swaps on other cars...amazing where you can put rotary engines...but I digress.)

Aside from that, I am really pleased to be knocking at the door of your wonderful community and interacting with many of you. In the meantime you can find me doing countless searches on many topics that I know nothing about. (guibo? is that even a real word, sounds like an Italian dude -Guibo Gotti... j/k)

Thanks in advance for any input...even if you just say search noob!!

Yes, the "e" transmission will bolt up to the "i" engine.

Name of the guy who invented it.

and to the O/P yes it will bolt right up.

Take the whole 55pin Motronic system with it (10,000 times better than the old 25pin)

Thanks for the quick replies!! And yes,if the "is" has nicer wheels (even the just the standard bmw wheels) we can definately come to some sort of agreement on the wheels. (A case of Samuel Adams and some rainbow skittles sounds fair, but thats totaly o.b.o).:)

Welcome to r3v. I was there today standing under an umbrella like everyone else. Still had a good time. I saw your car. It's like mine, it looks better in the rain! LOL

Hilarious! I did I have a good time though. There should have been a "pimpest" umbrella contest! I'm not sweating my ugly car though, I like how it feels when I drive it, and thats pretty important to me. It's actually comfortable to me. My RX7 TII wasn't that confy, though it was a beast, now it's a whole new ballgame. Wish me luck.
