    Windshield trim

I'm starting the body work on my 89 "is" and need to know how to remove the rubber windshield molding to adress some bubbling paint next to it. also does that hold the windshield in like in some VW's or is it siliconed in?

Remove the plastic trim inside the windshield rubber
and pop your windshield gently out

If you are working on the front glass don't try to push it out .
It will break everytime take a razor blade and cut the edge of rubber that covers the glass then just buy a good used rubber seal to replace the one you had to cut .
the back glass you can just push out . NOT THE FRONT 9 OUT of 10 WILL BREAK

Funny, I've taken out 6, and only broke 1. It cracked along a existing bullseye.

Same as Jordan: I've taken out 3 and not only one broke

I just used a plastic putty knife (no sharp edges really) that I slid between the rubber and the glas on both the inside and the outside of the car, at this stage you could feel how loose the windshield was. The window just slid out with minimal pressure, took 2-3 minutes with the help of two friends to catch the window as I gently pushed it outward in the corners, starting at the top.
Same procedure with the rear window. Now the rear quarters are another story (on a 2-door coupe), those sumbitches really don't want to come out. But with a bit of work they do.

Since his is already broke It does not matter how he takes it out, but if he only had one a used seal is cheaper then the
1in 6 or the 1in3 odds you have had

I didn't see any reason to cut anything.. Perhaps the design of the rubber seal is different on my 1989 iX from your car?
