What the hell is this? pics inside!

OK guys heres the story. I had my car painted last August, it then went into storage for the winter (garage attached to my parents house). I went out today to do some work on it and I found that the paint over 90% of the body had these cracks. It is a base clear paint job. They painted it and told me that it did not need to be baked, that the paint would cure it would just take longer.
So I phoned the shop today and was told that it should not have been painted so late in the season and then stored in an unheated garage, also that base clear is great for california but this is what happens when you get it in canada. what a joke.
I need you guys to give me as much feedback as to what this is called, what may have caused it and how it can be fixed so that I have some ammo when i go to the shop and talk to them. I dont know what to do, i saved up for the paint and cant afford to do it again, help me out here.
heres the best pics i could get today.

      I wish

At least I could wipe that off. I am not sure if its just the clear or if it involves the base also, i have no idea what it is or what to do.

how long did you let the car sit before you stored it...like after you painted it? ....it looks like they used a shitty clear...its like there is to much hardner shit in it....

when the guy painted my car he let it sit out side in the sun for a day to cure ...and it took one week for the color to come out and a month for the paint to completely cure he also told me not to wax it because it will marbleize the paint because it cant breath ....he was explaining that there are different types of paint some that flexes better then others...it looks like you have the same type of paint i do...and most bmw's...2 stage....i think some e30's had single stage like the reds? i may be wrong....but the single fades and gets oxidized

ask what layers of paint you had put on....mine was 4 base 4 clear and it is very durable...as far as i can tell....its been a year and a half.

          Hmmm.

          Painters fucked up.

Probably sprayed the clear coat too soon after the base.

Looks like a a cheap ass paint job that they are not willing to stand behind to me. I am no expert but have NEVER seen or heard of painting something to late in the season and it end up like that. Sounds to me like a shady paint shop that half assed the job. Any shop especially painting something going into winter should always bake the paint, that is if they care about their work.

To me it looks like they did not get the hardener and/or flex agent mixed right in the paint or clear (kinda hard to tell from the pictures which is effected).

I would take it back to them and seek further work with it. Even if you have to goto something like the BBB down here.

If the base coat shrinks up the clear will spider crack like that. It will happen with too much (and uncured) primer under the paint too.

What ever the actual cause is...The painters fucked up

                    hey guys

They painted the car and then let it sit in the sun for a day, i then brought it home and let it sit out for another day, took it inside at night and then brought it out in the day. I did not wax it or do anything to the paint, i was told to just leave it. I know i am going to have a fight with this. so the concensus so far is too much hardner or not enough flex agent or not waiting long enough between coats? i just need to go in there knowing something about what i am saying.
thanks guys, i appreciate the responses.

My question to them would be : What difference would it have made between it sitting in a unheated garage for the past few months or driving it everyday where it would see the same cold weather everyday? Seems to me in either case it would have done the same thing to you and would make their answer null and void... Point being whatever caused it, is their problem as it shouldn't have done that period if everything was done properly.

                      Good Luck

                        how to fix?

i am going to go to the shop in the afternoon, how is this fixed? i will guarantee they will say they can buff it out. I have been reading and it looks like a repaint is the correct method? anyone know what i should be looking for them to do?

They told you that you shouldn't have had it painted so "late in the season" after they painted it "late in the season" but not before?

                            Take 'em to court.
