    synthetic oil added to conventional

Hey guys, yesterday my GF was happy to report that she topped off her engine oil herself. Only problem is that she uses convetional oil in her 2000 A6 and she topped it off with fully synthetic (1 qt exactly). What should i do, if anything? I know they sell blends now, so will the car be ok? Shoud i change the oil today?

hey bro, it wont be a problem. just make sure she knows the kind of oil to use next time. as for changing the oil, i would do it on the scedualed milage/date. by the way why is a 00 Audi A6 running old school butter?

to sum it up, nothing major will happen to a daily driver putting around.

It was a hand-me-down and thats what her parents always used since new, so her dad was adamant about using the same oil. As soon as we get hitched, im going to trade it up for a newer a6 anyway.

just as long as it's not the oil is recommended by the factory? ok...

it'll be fine just pick an oil and stick with it, i hope she goes with shorter oil change intervals than the factory suggests as well as conventional oil loses it's viscous properties more quickly than synthetic. i run 5w40 0r 0w40 in my 01 S4 and change it every 5k or less, factory recommends 8k iirc.
