alright well i've got euro grilles to the top 2 horizontal slats are blocked off. if that's where the catch is its gonna make it hard for me to get in there.

^ No it's between the 3rd and 4th slat. Here, i went out to my car and took a picture of it for you. The thing the light is shining on is what's being referred to. Just stick a screwdriver in between the gap and spread the parallel pieces of metal inside the circle apart by twisting the screwdriver.

ah thank you very much everyone. i was actually fiddling around with that thing earlier but i guess the trick is to twist it. i did it and it worked but now i still have to replace the handle. time to hit the wrecking yard

Ecology is 50% off parts this weekend, I'll be going to my super-secret E30-infested one on Saturday morning. Last time we pulled 2 rear plastic bumpers, a full set of shadowline, a black lockstrip in flawless condition, and 2 extra sets of plastic bumper shocks front and rear.

its not bad at all, I did it for about 2 months before I replaced it.

It wont be more that a few dollars at the junk yard. But make sure you pick up a cable too because that might have been what broke the handle in the first place. The cable can bind up, and in most cases, would just break the cable but it might still be messed up in there.

Its quick, cheap and easy. Git r done

Don't go to this. It's a trap. Went to 3 different Ecologys and didn't get 1 piece of anything. Spent 9 hours looking.

Uh, which ones did you go to? I was at the one you PM'ed me about and came home with plastic front bumper shocks ($9), 3 weaves ($40 total, with Falken rubber!), 3 Volvo lips ($15!), facelift foglights and brake ducts ($30 for all!) and a bunch of other misc. crap, all in about 3 hours. We even left a flawless uncracked dash behind because we didn't feel like pulling it and we figure it'll probably be there next time we go back.
