I have a problem... need help making a decision

Ok. I have seriously been thinking about this for a few weeks now. And I'm still 50/50 on it.

I am planning on joining the marines. I actually go today to finish paperwork, then monday I have to go to MEPS for that physical, bloodwork, drug test, and choice of MOS. I might be leaving soon. Soon as in by mid summer at the latest.

This is my issue: I don't know where I will be shipped for my duty station. It could be homebound, or okinawa, japan andI don't know if I can have a car with me at training (I will bo going to a few different schools).

SO. These are my options: keep the e30 at my dads house durring bootcamp, and then place it in storage if I can't have a car durring training. If I get stationed overseas I can keep it in storage. Of course I will have my dad or another family member take it for a spin and keep it fresh and driveable...

    Or

I can sell it. Take the money and save it and pay off bills.

I hate the selling option. I love my e30. Sure, its all stock, but you gotta start somewhere...

Would you keep your e30 in storage near your parents/wife if you were gone for so long? I want to hear opinions from military/ex military people, and anyone for this matter.

Okay first off my brother just went into the Air Force last year. Im pretty sure its the same so you cant have your car at basic, or during tech school only once you get a duty post and are there can you obtain a vehicle.

IMO sell the car and save like crazy. Then if you get stationed in Europe, Japan etc you can buy a car there. I believe the military will ship one car back to the states for you when you return. In Europe you could get a Sport Evolution, Mtech, etc. Something nicer and more unique than you have now.

this was me 30 years ago. i had a nice car and joined the marines. left my car with my dad who took good care of it for me. never regretted either choice. i wish i could go back in and go to iraq now. but im too old. go in, send all the money home you can while you can live cheaply in the military and buy a house when you get out so you have a garage to park your e30 in when you get home. semper fi
