    3-series Tii this time around

Yup! this one seems more diffinite guys.

Should go into production round 2012 with 335bhp. Rumor is (according to the text) that the 3-series tii may recieve M3 brakes.

The article suggests that the 1Series will still get a Tii model but with less of a "Tii treatment" because buyers in this segment usually can't afford many of the extra's this upgrade will bring.

    EDIT:

What BMW doesn't seem to understand is that the 1-series is a far better cantidate for a hardcore Tii treatment than the 3. It's not about price, it's about wants!

People who want a more hardcore Tii version are going to want less wegiht too, hence the need for a serious Tii 1-series. Besides, a 3 series Tii will be far more expensive than a 1 series Tii, so what sense does their logic make?

Seriously BMW is making a big fucking mistake if they go the way the article indicates. It's like saying, "hey, lets make a racy version of the 750i instead of the mini cooper, cause, you know, 750i buyers have more money!"

these are going to be great, especially with the shift LED intregrated steering wheel option. i'd rather see only a 1er as a tii version and not a 3er. but meh, whatever. this is also going to be chasis code F30.

They need to watch their brand image carefully, too much focus on the 1 Series and other starting models (especially the 5-door) would take away from the higher model prestige and the overall status of a luxury sport auto maker, leaving them somewhere around Mazda.

No offense, but BMW has solidly been considered a pretsige brand for 20+ years, even if they sold a 1 million 1 series, they will still have that place in peoples minds. I doubt BMW will ever be considered a mazda alternative....

The 3 series Tii looks like poop...

They have indeed, and the 3 Series has been the benchmark of its class ever since its debut. But as is apparent with the import market, they're quite good at finding weaknesses in a competitors line and capitalizing on them. BMW's last attempt at a cheap entry level was through the brand Rover, and I'm sure a lot of people know how that turned out, it was a huge blow to the companies reputation from an investors view.

I'm losing a lot of faith in BMW, everything is huge now, the 1 series is as big as a z4, and quite a bit bigger than an e30, and don't even get me started on the bigger models, I don't even like the way the new m3 looks. I would buy an e60 m5 though

BMW has become too popular and is starting to make bad choices. A money company and not the ultimate driving machine company they used to be.

Not Land Rover but Rover another UK brand that only makes cars not SUVs related to the MG brand.

an example of a late model Rover:

The E30 is still longer than the 1.
