something fishy about this e30r on ebay

Guy says its a 87 325is yet it looks strikingly like a genuine M3. Most kitted e30 dont have a genuine M3 trunklid. What do you guys think? Washed car?

The story of this 1987 BMW 325IS (WBAAA130XH2327344) according to our interpretation of the information reported to CARFAX:
This coupe has had at least 2 owners. The first title for this coupe was reported to CARFAX by a Massachusetts DMV in 1995.
It was involved in an accident in Massachusetts that was reported to the police.
It has had no DMV-reported total loss events, like a major accident, fire or flood.
It has a consistent mileage history with no indication of an odometer rollback. The last odometer reading, reported on 08/08/2003, was 116,000 miles.
It was not reported to a DMV as a Manufacturer Buyback (LEMON).
Go to the Detailed Vehicle History for the complete history and a glossary of terms.

its' even got authentic E36 M3 mirrors ;)

That does seem strange.. could be a washed title.. i just don't see someone cutting and grafting the rear flares on... it does have the rear window surround on to make the M3 trunk fit the body lines... my bet is these aren't the actual pictures of the car.

Other than the number of spokes which I can't count, and the w/e mirrors, it looks like an M3.

It even has the antenna on top. Maybe he threw the 6 in the M?

        Carfax anyone?

          I'd say it's a stolen M3 with a swapped motor & VIN.

Not to mention the ebay account looks hijacked, and he's offering "free shipping"

Look two posts above yours. I would say it's an M3 chassis with a M20 engine in it.

Ditto, according to the carfax, that car drove 50,000 miles in 1 year. Very doubtful.

except the seller claims it started life as a Non M:

                    Vehicle Description

bmw 325is modified as an m3, with original parts, everything is from an m3 except for the engine, interior from an m3,racing exhaust, m3 differential, purchased as is in an auction, momo 16'' wheels, momo steering wheel, m3 mirrors, 03 m3 shift knob, racing pedals, brand new motor mounts and brand new brakes and discs, kyb suspension.

so either it's not the car pictured or as stated, I could see it as a VIN swap on a stolen M3.

IMO is that a real M3, I mean look the rear winshield angle position, and the trunk aligment, my father once tried to do the M3 conversion in my 325is and I said no, why cuz it won't look like a true m3 ever.

A look around the car's fenders, trunklid, dash will easily say if that's an M3 or not.

Why would someone spend all that money (were talking big money) to convert a 3er to look like a m3 and not touch the motor? Something is definately not right with that car. I agree, the VIN# must have been switched at a chop shop.
