PRO-3 racing in Portland and Seattle

First two races for the E30 PRO-3 series is April 26/27 at Portland Int'l Raceway and May 10/11 at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA.

A number of new PRO-3 cars have been built, we should easily see 20+ PRO-3 cars on the grid.

A link to some images from the 2007 PRO-3 season.

I hope to make several of the races this year. They were a blast to watch last year.

I'll be turning some wrenches for a friend in the PDX area this weekend. That would be cool to watch.

Yep, I am hoping to make it up there for one of the days. I was up for two of the races last year.

They don't seem to publish a complete day schedule. The go by a run group order so you will have to check which group PRO3 runs with.
The gates open at 7am. You can either drive in and park near the bridge on the north side through the normal fan enterance, or you can go around the back way and park in the infield.

You can look here for the run group order.

Well, you won't see the race on the 26th. You will see practice and qualifying though. The race will be on the 27th.

It is very cool though. You can walk through the pits, find Lance and chat a bit, or any of the other PRO3 guys for that matter. I know one or two of them vaguely. They are nice people. Just be respectful and realize that they are on a schedule and may get very busy.

The racing is energetic :) and fun to watch. Plus, you really are free to roam around wherever you want to watch the race. Bring a camera. There are lots of good photo ops.

There is usually just the one food stand open that serves $8.00 hamburgers. You might want to bring munchies and fluids.

For race schedules go to this link:

The International Conference of Sports Car Clubs: Road racing in the Pacfic Northwest - British Columbia, Washington and Oregon

Then at the "2008 Race Announcements and Event Schedules" click on the race weekend you are interested in which will bring up a PDF file. So far 4 races have been posted. Eventually this list will grow to include all 13 races on the calendar.

PRO-3 runs in Group 1. Each race weekend the order of groups is rotated so you have to check each race for when PRO-3 runs as it will vary. We happen to be last race of the day for race #1 in Portland.

All of the actual races are Sunday afternoon, after lunch.

Saturday is devoted to practice and qualifying. Sunday AM is another qualifying session. Then after lunch the races start. They are aprox. 30 minutes long.

I won't be driving in this first race, but will be down there Sunday to help with some administrative duties. cell phone is 425-443-2188 if anyone would like me to give them a tour of a PRO-3 car at the track.
