new member.. need some wheel help

    new here

picked up a 91 318is. looking for some new wheels as the borbets that were on the car are pretty mangled. One is bent to hell and 2 are missing hubcentric rings.

was looking at the 16" OZ ultraleggeras on tirerack, but the et is 37mm. would run 205/50/16 with these. not looking to go wide on tire sizing.

was also looking at the 15" team dynamica pro race 1.2, et 25mm.

would i need to run spacers with the OZs? not looking for that wide track look, just want it to look 'right', if that makes sense..

what is the correct offset for a 16" wheel for these cars and what is the correct offset for a 15" wheel?

    thanks for the help.. :-o

If you want the wheel to look right then you want a lower offset than a 37mm. The 25mm would be close to flush with the fenders but a 20mm gets them pretty damn flush.

I run 16x8's at et15. They fit perfect but they rubbed before I rolled the fenders. The offset is the same for the 15" wheels. Its just the tire size that you have to mess with after that. I would go with 16x? in somewhere between a 15mm and a 25mm offset. If you go lower than 15mm they will poke out and look horrible if the fenders aren't rolled. So stick with 15mm to 25mm.

Don't buy anything yet. Take your time, searching the forums, looking for what other people did. Google images too. Use search terms like E30 Borbet, E30 BBS RS... things like that. If you rush out and buy wheels now, you'll probably regret that as soon as you get familiar with the choices there are. Be prepared to buy used wheels, especially if you're liking BBS, and refinish them if needs be.

I know you're itching to buy wheels right now, but do some research and be willing to wait for what you really want. You may find yourself changing your mind, maybe a few times, before you find what really suits your taste.
