Yup, some of the e21 guys at bfc were talking about it (thus me following a link here). Post on the thread there, or I can. You're call.

Stu - You could say I know a bit about that kit. Let me put it to you this way...my GIRLFRIEND knows all about that intake manifold. She proved to me that it polishes up real nice. :D

I have that kit on my e21. It was designed and built by a company named BAE in SoCal for Century BMW (a dealership). They were the US dealership's answer to BMW USA not importing the 323i. Tons of '02 owners back in the late '70s said they wouldn't buy an e21 since it was heavier and made less power than the '02. So Century had BAE make a kit that was smog legal and added about 50hp (according to claims back in the day). Stock kits were suppose to run 5-6psi. There was an upgraded kit available with an intercooler that mounted behind the pass side headlight, was good for a total of 10psi. All of this using stock CIS injection (K-Jet).

The turbo is a RayJay. That manifold won't accept much else (flange isn't normal). There are NO shops left that advertise being able to rebuild those turbo's anymore, parts are no longer made. What I think you were calling an external Blow Off Valve is actually the waste gate. Not sure from the one pic though.

I've currently got a stuck waste gate and 2.5in piping from the turbo back. I'm pushing 13+psi, but don't have the AFR to support it. I need to tune it. Anything else you need to know? :)
You da man, I never thought I would get that much info on it. Do you know anyone that would be interesting in this thing?

hehe...I'm still hanging out over at bfc. This was linked there (I think...). Oh well, found it somewhere.

And it's only been 7 months Jonathan since I tried to be all sneaky-like and just 'appear' at Mariano's BBQ. :P

Anyway, I'm kinda curious to know if the OP has figured out if it is a BAE/Century kit or not....

Edit: WOW!! I haven't been here in ages. Smilies disabled FTL.

If they are, that is CA Smog legal on a '80-83 320i. THAT makes it decent money to some people.

No kidding, the car was repaired after the curb incident. It messed up the front valence and a wheel. I was wondering if someone (2-3 owners later) had a collision or just gave up one the car completely.
