Hey, so i posted a thread about where to go for a new hood for my BMW, but I was wondering if anyone knew what years and models BMW hoods would fit on my 88 BMW 325.i Convertible. THanks,
Seth
As you all can tell, i dont know anything really about cars, but hey thats why i joined this place was to learn. So another few questions:
Im looking to buy new rims and tires, the tire size I have is 190/65/r14, how do i look for rims and know what will fit my car and what wont? I am skeptical on buying used because i dont know what will fit? Any suggestions or anyone know exactly what to look for?
Also how much is the average paint job go for an e30 convertible? Anyone?
Paint varies a lot. Doing your own prep makes it a lot cheaper. look at 3k for an average job by just dropping it off at a shop.
Or you can roller-paint it. search for Roller Paint Job and you'll find quite a few people that have done it. it's only $50 in raw materials, But a lot of time. LOTS.
Any Sonoma people hear about Magic auto painting? Supposable they do a pretty good paint job for less than 1k?? I thought about looking into it, cuz I know I would fuck up doing the roller paint job, and I dont have much time. Thanks,
Seth
any shop doing it for $1,000 is working off quantity and not quality. Much like macco these shops will do a ok spray, but shitty preparation and finish work in an effort to get your car in-out-and on to the next...
if that is your budget I, like many others will tell you, recommend you do your own prep work; and tell them to spray some extra layers of clear to wet sand and buff it yourself.

Slow down cowboy! :D
I think this guy is just getting into cars and working on them. I doubt that he even knows the difference between primer, base and clear - not to mention the ART of prep before paint.
Seth - my advice (and I know this sounds boring - but if you really are just getting into cars, try this) - Walk out to your car, look at something - ANYTHING - say something you think is wrong, or something you want to make better - them simply search for it.
If the paint is messed up search "paint"
If your rims are too small search for "wheels"
If your interior looks like snot, search for carpet, seats, headline, crack free dash...
(BTW - in the search - do an advance search and select "titles only" - That will eliminate most of the crap)
By "paint the car to your budget" do you mean half now half later, or they use half as many cans and use piss to dilude it to make up the difference? Ughh stupid royalblau metalic paint is chipped in a couple of places and is general need of lots of touching up that I don't feel like fucking with, I need to find someone to take care of it cheap. Who wants to get :drink: and paint some E30's?
