What should I do with my original interior...

So I swapped the tan interior out of my e30 because I prefer black. The old interior is dirty with some damage to the driver card from rolling the window up and down, but nothing a good scrubbing couldn't clean up really. It's tan houndstooth. I just didn't want to put the time into an interior I didn't want.

I thought I should hang onto it incase I ever sell the car and the next owner wants the original interior. But I'm tired of it hanging around.

What would you do? Get rid of it or hang onto it? It's not an issue of space, I have the space, I'm just trying to clear out all the random crap I have in the garage...

Um yeah, just installed the black interior, so it's not going anywhere.

I've got to wait for a nice day to get new pics of the Baur with the new interior. Here's a couple I think I posted before with the old interior...

Where I found it after my brother took it out for a spin...

Getting worked on by my brother with the donor Baur shell in the background. (had nothing but a brand new Koni suspension and the top roof piece I needed)

The way I found it. It was left at an independent dealer of mostly German cars, not running. I was there because my roommate was buying a mini, which ironically she ditched under the lemon law for water issues. The BMW became mine for $500, he just wanted it off his lot. Notice the lack of roof. They left it that way all winter.

That's a really hot Baur. Original paint? It looks really glossy, it cleaned up quite well. Those bottlecaps look to be in great shape as well.

As far as that houndstooth, I'd say clean it up and make some office or garage furniture out of it. So, you're talking about going all black vinyl on the interior? A black on black Baur would look stunning.

I agree, that's why I swapped to black. :-) All original paint as far as I know except the hood, there's some slight orange peal and I pulled a carfax which shows one accident from 2002. Looks like it was something very minor because everything else looks intact and the grill is still the euro grill.

All the original bottle caps were scattered about the car, found two in the trunk, one in the front passenger and one in the rear seat. He had these ridiculous steelies with walmart hubcaps on it. (I know who the original owner was, had to track him down to get the title, he's a swank real estate guy in Buffalo)

And leather actually, already did the swap (the benefits of having a Baur is the ability to take an interior picture from the top of the car!):

Wow, the end product looks awesome. It sounds like you have one of the few Baurs with few stories. What other plans do you have for the car? Personally, I dig the bonestock appearance. But I'm sure a few on here would argue that a drop and some 17" RS' would finish it off. Nice car though.

Yeah, right now it's totally stock except for that Koni suspension front and back and a new shift knob set up (the lighted Mtech one). It actually is dropped slightly in the front already, but I think it would look nice going a tad lower...

I was actually thinking of going with the Konig Remembers in Black with the polished lip, but can't justify the purchase right now since those bottlecaps are so clean.

My other plans for it are:
                  A) Remove those trailer side markers. They don't blink anyway, they are just running lights. Doubtful they'd pull me over if I remove them.

                  B) New exhaust. Nothing wrong with the exhaust on it, just think the car should sound better. I've got a line on a Magnaflow exhaust I was thinking of putting on.

                  C) Still have a "check" light error. I think I'm having a problem with the check panel itself so there's one on the way from Germany right now.

                  D) Upgrade the braking system to Brembo. Again, nothing wrong with what's on there now, just would like it to be something nicer.

                  E) Upgrade the audio system. My brother tossed in an Alpine deck when I first got the car, but it was still running the original Blaupunkt front speakers (cones were totally rotted away when I pulled them!) and it's got some polk audio crap from the 90s in the back that needs to go. When the top is down, the rear speakers are completely covered so I want to track down some tweeter pods for the front and concentrate on that first. So at the moment, it actually has NO speakers because it was pointless putting the old crap back in.

                  F) Swap the stock digital clock for the euro analog version. Also on the way.

                  G) Going to pull the ashtray and put a panel in there for a couple guages. I'd like a voltage meter and I'm not sure what else I'd like to drop there yet.

                  H) Over the winter, a new passenger floor pan needs to be welded in. It had some rot from a leaky a/c drain hose.

That's about it for now unless others have some suggestions...

That's awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing some shots of it when it gets done. Your plans not only sound feasible, but quite tasteful as well. I'm looking forward to getting a set of euro bumpers for mine sometime soon.

very nice. I might have to start looking for a baur. Not that there are any in Indiana. Or that I have any money. :(
